The duality of porn consumers and female porn stars… and how slut shaming is still absolutely rampant. What makes the viewer of porn less accountable and normal than the people, especially women who produce and star in them?? If you have the time read the link to well known website xojane for this open letter from a young student and porn performer who was outed by a fellow student on her campus in America. It’s confronting, horrifying and real.
It also highlights why I will never, ever give out too many details or show my face, not because I am ashamed but because I have no desire for a lingering judgement against my ethics or potential employment. And as long as there are those who make it a personal agenda for women who enjoy sex in all its forms to be blacklisted and discriminated against, I will protect my privacy and try to change attitudes.
And why is sex work still such a stigma that ‘we’ assign ethics and morals to human beings who choose this line of work as opposed to more ‘respectable’ professions.
So you like gangbangs or blowing five guys in a row, does that mean that somewhere, somehow you ask or deserve for comments like ‘you deserve to be raped’ or ‘slit your wrists’ or ‘trolls will will be trolls’… which insinuates that harassment in any form is inevitable, so why bother trying to address the issue. It puts all the blame on the victim rather than the aggressor or people who do the bullying.
Belle Knox, I openly wish you complete your degree, earn lots of money and keep feeling empowered by your work and sexual choices which you own and so eloquently describe in your post.

I can respect your desire to keep your cam life and your private life separate, but “loud and proud” makes changes “suffer in silence” doesn’t. Your blog is for the most part preaching to the converted. I agree with that slut shaming is a vile thing to do, but standing in the shadows whispering your support to people who already agree with you changes nothing. For those who do out themselves things will be harder but as more and more people stand up and are counted that’s when things change.
There is a difference between suffering in silence and whispering in the ears for change rather than screaming it from the rooftops eh?? I absolutely agree that being loud and proud is a great thing, but this is dependent on circumstance and personality. I myself, am a private introvert, I challenge in my own, unique way how I see fit which doesn’t match your expectation. It doesn’t lessen my commitment to change or make it less valid because I don’t wear a t shirt which says ‘hi… see this face I’m a cam girl’.
You also assume that all my viewers and/or readers are in congruence with my belief systems, which belies the variety of beliefs, cultural norms and value systems. I’ve had roaring debates with those who don’t believe in mental illness, don’t think feminism is valid and certainly wouldn’t give a toss about a female porn star, and by doing so it challenges their mindset and sometimes opens up what they perceive as truth or the known.
It only takes one drop in the ocean to have a ripple effect, not always a tidal wave.
Okay, forgive me for not quite getting it, but just when did this wonderfully written note become a reason to make judgment calls on you!
